RBI calls for better banking

Shyamala Gopinath, a deputy governor at the Reserve Bank of India, called on banks to improve their standards of customer service.

Gopinath said the Reserve Bank was focused on:

sensitising banks to customer service and encouraging the involvement of the boards of the banks;

insisting on transparency in all the dealings with the customers, and ensuring reasonableness in pricing.
