Bank of Italy to complete BPM investigation

ITALY - Italy's central bank, Banca d'Italia, is about to complete its investigation on Italian bank Banca Popolare di Milano (BPM), which started four months ago.

Banca d'Italia has examined the corporate governance rules and management of BPM, and is now looking at the acquisition of Italian bank Banca di Legnano, which led to a capital increase.

Banca d'Italia is also to investigate the withdrawal of charges laid against former BPM chairman Piero Schlesinger and 20 other directors and
