China may tighten yuan as economy grows

The Chinese controlled press reported on Thursday 14 July that the Chinese economy was forging ahead in the second quarter.

The Shenzhen-based Securities Times noted that China's annual gross domestic product growth increased to 10.9 percent in the second quarter from 10.3 percent in the first three months.

The newspaper reported, "Such a high rate of economic growth and inflation means the central bank will not sit idle any more...Tightening measures are now imminent."
