New governor says CBK not to follow IMF blindly

Kenya's newly appointed central bank governor said Wednesday 7 March that the institution should develop partnerships rather than blindly follow the IMF and World Bank.

Central Bank of Kenya governor Njuguna Ndung'u told reporters he would concentrate on the implementation of homegrown economic policies to ensure a stable exchange rate and lower interest rates as opposed to "blind" implementation of World Bank policy prescriptions.
