Miner finds $10m diamond in Guinea Republic

A miner in Guinea struck lucky this week when his shovel unearthed a 182-carat diamond estimated to be worth $10 million. The rock is now under armed guard in Guinea's central bank.

The Guinea diamond may be impressive but it is nothing compared to the "diamond star" known as Lucy which is 4,000 km across, and some 50 light-years from the Earth in the constellation Centaurus. It is 10 billion trillion trillion carats. Click here to read the story on the BBC's web site.
