BOJ's Fukui says prices may rise from late 2005

Bank of Japan governor Toshihiko Fukui told a news conference on Wednesday 27 July that the consumer price index may rise from late this year or early 2006 as the BOJ kept monetary policy unchanged.

Speaking after the BOJ's Policy Board meeting, Fukui said the board's overall view on prices had not changed from its previous meeting, although there were slight differences in each board member's assessment on prices.
