Lithuania's new PM pencils in euro for 2009-2010

Lithuania's new Prime Minister, Gediminas Kirkilas, said the country is unlikely to join the euro zone before 2009, BNS reported citing the Delfi news portal.

Kirklas, speaking in an interview, said 2009-10 was a realistic target.

He said the new government would immediately analyse the situation and assess the country's economic development and future prospects before taking a decision in consultation with the European Commission.
