Central bankers see ray of light in global economy

The world's leading central bankers on Monday shrugged off the recent surge in the euro as a recovery from weakness and said there were rays of light in the global economy.

After a regular meeting of top central bankers at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), Bank of England Governor Sir Edward George painted a slightly rosier economic outlook now that the uncertainty of war in Iraq had passed, but added the picture was far from bouyant.
