BOT chief takes role in military-backed govt

Bank of Thailand governor Pridiyathorn Devakula said Monday 2 October that he will join the cabinet of the new military-backed government in an as yet undecided role.

'I have agreed to join the new cabinet but I don't know yet what position I will be in,' Pridiyathorn told reporters after meeting the country's new prime minister.

'But I believe the prime minister will have me fill a position that suits my expertise,' he added.
