Japan can declare deflation over says Omi

Japan's Finance Minister Koji Omi said Tuesday 3 October that the country can declare that its battle with more than seven years of falling prices is over.

``Judging from the current state of the economy, we can declare Japan's deflation is over,'' Omi said at a regular press conference in Tokyo. ``I think it's a bit unnatural not to do so now.''

Omi said this is his personal view and it doesn't necessarily mean he, as finance minister, is urging the government to make an official statement that
