Slovakia on track for 2009 euro says IMF

Slovakia is very likely to meet euro entry criteria in time to adopt the single currency as planned in 2009, the International Monetary Fund said Tuesday 13 March.

Biswajit Banerjee, head of an IMF mission to Slovakia, also told reporters the government should aim to set a lower fiscal deficit target to sustain economic growth, though the economy is currently in good shape.
