Bank funding for buyer of Northern Rock?

The Bank of England's emergency facility to Northern Rock will still be available to any buyer of the ailing bank, it was confirmed today.

There was some confusion yesterday as to whether the Bank of England would continue to provide its emergency facilities to Northern Rock if it were purchased by another entity.

Reportedly, talks with Northern Rock and another UK bank, Lloyds TSB, collapsed last week on concerns that the central bank funding would stop once Northern Rock was purchased. But
