Sultanov elected speaker of Kyrgyz parliament

Former governor of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, Marat Sultanov, was elected Speaker of the Kyrgyz parliament on Thursday 2 March by a majority of 45 votes, Itar-Tass reported.

Sultanov has been deputy of the two previous Kyrgyz parliaments. Prior to working in the Kyrgyz parliament Sultanov was head of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan from 1994-1998 and also held the post of finance minister from 1998-1999.

44-year-old Sultanov was born in Frunze. In 1983 he graduated from the Moscow
