Meirelles says Brazil's 2007 inflation benign

Brazil's 2007 inflation scenario is benign, but the central bank remains vigilant, the bank's chief said on Monday 19 March.

Central bank president Henrique Meirelles, speaking to journalists in Guatemala City, said Brazilian interest rates were at a level consistent with the improving macroeconomic situation and that the economy was "moving in the right direction."
