French finance minister resigns over apartment

Herve Gaymard, the French finance minister, resigned on Friday 25 February following revelations about his state-funded luxury apartment.

M. Gaymard was told on Thursday by Jean-Pierre Raffarin, prime minister, to publicly clear up all confusion over the apartment, which has provoked outrage in France and embarrassed the government.
