Belgium may scrap euro cent coins

Belgium is to stop producing one- and two euro cent coins, following in the footsteps of eurozone partners Finland and the Netherlands, AFP reported Finance Minister Didier Reynders as saying.

Reynders, announcing the end of production from next year, said the small coins were too expensive as a way of paying, as well as being awkward for shoppers, the report said.
