EU report warns on further ECB rate hikes

The European Commission said in a report quoted by Bloomberg News on Thursday 22 March that further interest-rate increases by the European Central Bank may threaten economic growth in the 13 nations sharing the euro.

``The ongoing tightening of monetary policy could lead to a sharper-than-expected slowdown of investment growth,'' according to the draft commission report, which was obtained by Bloomberg News.

The commission report recognized inflationary risks, in particular those related to oil
