Iwata says deflation easing but no policy move yet

Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Kazumasa Iwata said on Tuesday 18 October that although the economy is emerging from deflation, the BOJ will maintain its ultra-loose monetary policy for now.

"As a trend, year-on-year rises in the CPI (consumer price index) will move higher," he told a parliamentary committee.

"As the consumer price index is still slightly negative year-on-year, we will maintain loose monetary policy under our commitment, thereby supporting stable prices and continued economic gro
