Russian law signed preserving c bank independence

RUSSIA - President Vladimir Putin has signed a federal law on the Central Bank of Russia, the presidential press service said on Thursday.

The State Duma, or the lower house of parliament, passed the law on 27 June.

The new law defines the status, functions and powers of the central bank and its board of directors, and of the National Bank Council.
