Treasury Committee to look into MPC process

The Treasury Select Committee has said it expects to look into the appointment process to the Bank of England's interest rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee some time next year.

In approving the appointments of Tim Besley and Andrew Sentance, the committee which comprises cross party MPs said it "may return to these topics at an appropriate time, which we expect to be in the course of 2007".
