Bernanke advocates more Fed transparency

Ben Bernanke said in a speech on Tuesday 25 Marchthat the Federal Reserve could benefit from setting an inflation target. An explicit inflation goal was in his view the best way for the Fed to achieve stable prices.

Federal Reserve Board Governor Ben Bernanke said on Tuesday the U.S. central bank would benefit from a move to inflation targeting and proposed early release of the Fed's January and mid-year economic forecasts as a step in that direction.
