MAS says common Asian currency unlikely soon

A top official from the Monetary Authority of Singapore has said that the establishment of a common Asian currency is unlikely to be realised in the near term.

"There is a general sense that a common currency is not realizable for a very long time to come," deputy chairman of Singapore's central bank Tharman Shanmugaratnam told reporters at the end of a seminar on Asian financial integration.
