Tanigaki tells G7 Japan is working on debt

Japanese Finance Minister Sadakazu Tanigaki said that he told Group of Seven nations and Russia that Japan will try harder to control the expansion of its public debt.

``I explained to them that we must accelerate our attempts to overhaul the economy's structure, including reforms of the social welfare system, to make our economic recovery sustainable,'' Tanigaki said at a press conference in New York after a two-day meeting of the countries' finance ministers.

He also told the ministers that
