Iraq's small coins going unused

Millions of dinar coins minted by the Central Bank of Iraq are going unused as banks are reluctant to accept them, and high inflation means there is less and less need for small denominations.

Talib al-Tamimi, manager of the treasury and monetary emission at the central bank, was quoted by Agence France Presse as saying the coins are available, but people do not use them as they are still unfamiliar with them.

"They are uncertain about them after 13 years in which there have been no denominations
