Many managers assess reserves with benchmarks and other approaches

Central bank board remains top body granting approval for reserve benchmarking

Most central banks conduct reserves performance assessments using benchmarking models, but in addition to benchmarking, some respondents reveal that they also utilise other means, the Reserve Benchmarks 2025 reveal.

Three-tenths (30.4%) of central banks say they use other approaches for reserves performance assessment. The overwhelming majority (69.6%) of respondents, however, stick to benchmarking alone.

Respondents highlight three common supplementary approaches for measuring reserves
