

One third of reserves staff work in front-office roles
Average reserve management team size is less than 30 employees
The average number of full-time equivalent staff working in reserve management across 37 central banks surveyed in Reserve Benchmarks 2020 was 29.3. Team sizes ranged from four to 100 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff.
Within reserves departments, 34.5% of employees are responsible for managing portfolios, 26.3% working full-time in risk management and 15.9% in technology – with the rest being employed in other functions.
