AI being adopted in over half of central banks

More than half of central banks responding to the Fintech Benchmarks 2024 use machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

The statistics showcased 37 responses from participants. Of these, 21 (56.8%) say they use ML/AI tools. In comparison with the 2023 benchmark, the data result suggests increase in ML/AI adoption by central banks. 

Qualitative data from the institutions using the technology shows that it is deployed in various areas. Many respondents use the tools for
