

Central banks are bullish on environmental features of CBDC
A minority of respondents’ jurisdictions prohibit crypto assets
Central bankers predict central bank digital currency (CBDC) will be more environmentally friendy than cash.
A total of 29 institutions answered the question on eco-friendliness of CBDCs. All respondents said a CBDC is the greener option.
The Fintech Benchmarks 2023 also found crypto is rarely banned, with just two (5%) of 37 respondents saying they have restrictions on crypto in their jurisdictions.
The two banks with dissenting opinions on crypto provided no major reasons for their verdicts
