The most popular types of skills for data scientists to be proficient in at central banks are Structured Query Language (SQL), Python and R, according to 19 central banks that provided data as part of the Fintech Benchmarks 2022.
Most central banks (79%) said they require data scientists to be proficient in SQL, R and Python. Microsoft Excel was also a sought-after skill (74%). More than half of central banks also require data scientists to be proficient in artificial intelligence/machine
