Most central banks do not have dedicated fintech departments

Fintech operations tend to be spread across departments

There is no one way central banks organise their fintech operations, the Fintech & IT 2021 benchmarks show, but few institutions house these in dedicated departments.

Just three respondents said they have dedicated fintech departments – with two of these explaining that some fintech initiatives are handled by other employees, too.

Of the other respondents, 30% said fintech initiatives operate out of the payments department, 10% IT services and 10% supervision.
