Sandboxes are most popular fintech initiatives used by central banks
Almost 50% of central bank respondents operate sandbox environment
Forty-eight percent of respondents to the Central Banking Fintech & IT 2021 benchmarks survey oversee sandbox environments, which nurture experimentation with fledgling financial technologies.
They’re the most popular type of support given new fintech initiatives across institutions – just 16% run accelerators, which help get early-stage technologies ready to launch, and 10% incubators, which nurture ideas that have potential, but are yet to be tested.
