Asia issues the most banknotes by volume and value

Asian central banks issue 62.3 banknotes worth $1,852 per person

Central banks in Asian jurisdictions on average issue the most banknote pieces with the highest aggregated total value in US dollar terms after adjustment by population and land size, according to Currency Benchmarks 2020.

Measuring the volume of banknotes in circulation per citizen showed Asia as having the highest proportion, with 62.3 notes per person, just ahead of the Americas at 59.3, followed by Europe at 48.7, Oceania at 46.1 and Africa at 34.4. Asia remained top when land mass was used
