Initiative aims to build a European data ecosystem to boost “digital sovereignty”

The European Central Bank joined the Gaia-X project, a data and cloud network initiative, it said in a statement today (November 17).

The Gaia-X project aims to build a European data ecosystem, boosting the continent’s “digital sovereignty”.

It “develops common standards for digital services like cloud services,” said the ECB. “This allows data to be collected and shared in an environment of trust.”

The central bank said the project supports the digitalisation of the European economy.
