Hungary proposes amendments to troublesome central bank law
The Hungarian government today (June 21) proposed amendments to its controversial central bank law, which has attracted objections from the European Central Bank (ECB), the European Commission (EC) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
One suggested amendment is to incorporate Hungary's new labour code – which gives workers improved rights – into the central bank law. A major concern about the central bank law was a provision that allowed the government to nominate members of the National
