Trump sets up committee to investigate Cook
Courts had previously ruled US president had not followed due process in trying to fire Fed governor
Donald Trump has established a committee of inquiry to determine whether he has ‘cause’ to dismiss Lisa Cook as a governor of the Federal Reserve.
In a statement issued today (October 9), the US president said the committee would investigate allegations that Cook “made false statements in connection with one or more mortgage instruments”.
The committee members will be Kevin Hassett, the president’s assistant for economic policy and a former Fed governor; Andrea Lucas, chair of the Equal Employment
