Supervisors must co-operate internationally – Elderson

ECB board member warns emerging risks to stability demand joint response from regulators

Co-ordinated international action from supervisors is needed to address a rapidly evolving risk landscape, a member of the European Central Bank’s executive board has said.

Speaking at the Basel Committee’s international conference of banking supervisors in Bali on September 30, Frank Elderson – who is also the vice-chair of the ECB’s supervisory board – said increasingly interconnected threats to financial stability demanded “co-ordination and co-operation among authorities”.

Elderson argued that
