IMF reaches staff-level agreement with Zimbabwe
Country still needs to strengthen governance and restore debt sustainability, fund says
The International Monetary Fund has reached a staff-level agreement with Zimbabwe on the policies needed to complete the second review under the fund’s staff-monitored programme.
The IMF said in a statement on September 17 that “programme implementation through end-June 2026 was strong”. It added that almost all quantitative and indicative targets had been met, except for the indicative target on protected social and priority spending.
