Schnabel could leave ECB early to join IMF – German media

Germany may find itself without representative on bank’s governing board

Isabel Schnabel is rumoured to be leaving the European Central Bank early to take a role at the International Monetary Fund, according to a German newspaper.

A story published by Handelsblatt on September 3 said the ECB executive board member could leave the bank before her term ends on December 31, 2027. However, Central Banking understands that the selection process is still in the hands of the IMF and that no final decision has been made. Hiring decisions at the institution are made internally
