DNB moves North America-held gold, citing ‘geopolitical unrest’

Dutch central bank insists it has ‘excellent relationships’ with NY Fed and Bank of Canada

The Dutch central bank has moved part of its gold reserves out of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Bank of Canada, “in view of increasing geopolitical unrest”.

According to a press release on September 2, The Netherlands Bank (DNB) effectively transferred 86 tonnes of gold from North America to the UK between March and August of this year.

DNB said it had sold 59 tonnes in New York and then purchased replacement bullion in London. It said gold held at the BoE was “regarded as the world
