RBA remains on hold and says inflation still too high

Economists predict interest rates in Australia will stay put until mid-2027

The Reserve Bank of Australia left interest rates unchanged at 4.35% today (August 11), as expected, and said inflation in the country remained too high.

“The board is determined to ensure that expectations of higher inflation do not become embedded in price and wage setting decisions,” governor Michele Bullock said at a press conference after the decision. “We expect that a period of subdued growth will be required to bring inflation down substantially.”

Bullock said the RBA forecasted that
