Switzerland and Norway hold, Czech Republic and Moldova hike
SNB says inflation uptick is temporary, while CNB and Norges Bank highlight wage pressures
The Czech, Moldovan, Norwegian and Swiss central banks all announced monetary policy decisions today (June 18).
The Swiss National Bank (SNB) held its policy rate at 0%. Norges Bank also opted to hold at 4.25%. The Czech National Bank (CNB) hiked rates for the first time in more than a year. The National Bank of Moldova raised rates for the second time in a row, this time opting for a 50 basis point tightening following April’s 150bp hike.
