Policy challenges are ‘converging all at once’, Malaysian governor tells Central Banking Meetings
Central banks must ensure not only stability but also resilience, given the structural shift in how risks are manifesting themselves, the governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has said.
In a keynote speech today (March 31) at the Central Banking Meetings, Kuala Lumpur, Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said policy-makers were no longer confronted with the “familiar cyclical turbulences”.
“My central argument today is that central banks can no longer afford to see themselves merely as stewards of stability
