Slovak governor downplays odds of ECB rate hike

Kažimír says bank unlikely to react this month, but leaves open option of tightening in April or June

The European Central Bank’s governing council is unlikely to react to the spike in energy prices at its meeting on March 18-19, the governor of the National Bank of Slovakia has said.

In an interview with Bloomberg today (March 11), Peter Kažimír said the council needed to “stay calm”, but warned that a “reaction by the ECB is potentially closer than many people think”.
