Dollar will remain core to global finance – Saudi governor

US currency maintains strong liquidity and robust legal framework despite “hiccups”, says Sayari

The dollar will remain central to the global monetary system because of its strong market liquidity and robust legal framework, the governor of the Saudi Central Bank (Sama) has said.

Speaking at a panel during the AlUla conference for emerging market economies (EMEs) on February 8, Ayman Al-Sayari said talks of de-dollarisation reflected a gradual “re-configuration” and “routine diversification” within global finance, rather than the greenback losing its status.
