Tech issue caused RBA systems outage, says Bullock

Australian governor apologises and says payments failures were ‘not acceptable’

Two service disruptions at the Reserve Bank of Australia that caused hundreds of payments to fail were the result of internal technical problems, the bank’s governor has said.

Michele Bullock said today (February 6) that the bank was conducting a full review into the January 27 outage that affected payment and property settlement services. Speaking at a regular parliamentary hearing, she said the results of the review would be published this month and apologised for the disruption.
