Posen predicts Supreme Court will side with Cook

However, PIIE president tells panel that justices are still likely to undermine Fed independence

Adam Posen has predicted that the US Supreme Court will rule in Lisa Cook’s favour and allow the Federal Reserve governor to remain in post.

Speaking on October 31 on a panel organised by the Peterson Institute for International Economics, of which he is president, Posen said the justices were likely to want to show some distance from the executive while upholding some of its other decisions, such as the deployment of soldiers in Chicago and the issuing of tariffs.

He expected the court to narrow
