Johnson Asiama, governor of the Bank of Ghana, announced that “Ghana is back” on October 16, in remarks at the International Monetary Fund meetings in Washington, DC.

The governor, who has been in office for eight months, noted highly expansionary fiscal policy, high inflation and a depreciating exchange rate were some of the country’s main issues when he took on the role.

He pointed to inflation coming down from 24% to 9% and Ghana reaching growth targets as evidence of the central bank’s success
