Norges Bank continues easing campaign with another 25bp cut

Central bank governor strikes hawkish tone, highlights increasing productivity

Norway’s central bank has cut its policy rate for the second time this year.

Norges Bank governor Ida Wolden Bache announced the 25 basis point reduction at a press conference on September 17, where she also unveiled the bank’s new monetary policy report.

The policy rate is now 4%, which Bache noted was still in restrictive territory. This is the bank’s second rate cut this year: the policy rate had peaked at 4.5% between December 2023 and June 2025, when the bank’s monetary policy and financial
