Third European country probes finances of Riad Salameh

Prosecutors in Luxembourg are investigating Lebanon’s central bank governor over alleged financial crimes, joining similar investigations in France, Switzerland and Lebanon itself.

A judicial spokesperson in Luxembourg told Reuters on November 15 that it was investigating Riad Salameh’s financial affairs, but gave no further details. Salameh has been the governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon since 1993 and is at the centre of the country’s economic and political crisis.
