Policy support and speed of vaccination programmes have widened gaps, Gopinath says
The International Monetary Fund maintained its 6% global growth forecast in its world economic outlook update, but emerging economies are falling behind.
“The composition [of growth] has changed,” IMF chief economist Gita Gopinath said during the WEO press conference on July 27. “Growth prospects for advanced economies this year have improved by half a percentage point, but this is offset exactly by a downward revision for emerging markets and developing economies.”
